BPM: Ann, what made you want to become a writer? How long have you been writing?
I absolutely love reading which led me to begin writing. I love tender stories about romance and how they impact not just the hero and heroine, but their family and friends as well.

BPM: How do you think you’ve evolved creatively?
I’ve found a voice in my writing, no matter what genre I’m writing in. My stories has a tendency to write themselves… and I let the characters have their way.

BPM: How has writing impacted your life?
Oh boy… let’s see. It’s definitely a craft you have to practice on a regular basis. Sometimes finding time to write is challenging because I still have a full time job. Some days I just don’t feel like it, but do it anyway.

BPM: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I like the characters I write about, and they’re people readers can relate to. And so far, I’ve been true to this format.

BPM: How do you find or make time to write?
It’s sometimes hard, especially because I travel extensively. Sometime I just write small notes to add to a project later.

BPM: Are you a plotter or a pantster?
Definitely a pantster. I build my characters, and after that, they’re out of my control!

BPM: How did you choose the genre you write in? Have you considered writing in another genre?
I didn’t really read romance at first, but when I stumbled on AA romance, I was hooked. And mostly that’s what I write. I do write some women and inspirational pieces, but romance is my baby. It depends on where I am in life at the moment, which dictates what project to start. I have several pieces still in the draft form that I have to go back and finish. I’ve also written a children’s book and a pet book. The pet book is yet to be published.

BPM: Tell us about your most recent work? Available on Nook and Kindle?
My latest romance is from the Gumbo Love Series and is the last book from this series. It’s entitled Worth the Ride. All of Gumbo Love is available on both platforms.

BPM: Give us some insight into your main characters or the speakers. What makes each one so special?
Trisha is the baby and the only girl in the family. She could easily be seen as spoiled, prissy, and self-absorbing, but she’s none of these things. Well, maybe she’s a little spoiled, but it has not changed the fact that she sweet, hardworking, and very independent. She’s determined to prove her point in life, and she doesn’t allow obstacle to stand in her way. She’s a likable and considerate.

Denver is dedicated, loyal, and respected. He has allowed obligation to lead his life up to the point where he meets Trisha. He’s strong willed, but fair, and meeting Trisha not only add value to his life, she becomes the best half of him, and is smart enough to recognize it. Together, they unite family, love, and aspirations with ease.

BPM: Share one specific point in your book that resonated with your present situation or journey.
Family is always my center. This book like the others do not function well without the love, respect, and support of family.

BPM: Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?
Actually, there are some unsuspecting characters that popped up in the book. Their stories could in itself be revealing and stand alone as single titles. We’ll have to see if the characters feel strong enough to bug me about the idea.

BPM: Is there one subject you would never write about as an author?
I’m not too interested in paranormals, mostly because I’m just not interested. I’m also not too keen on erotical. I have to feel some connection with the characters, and to me these characters are only interested in the sex and not the relationship. I could be wrong about that, but that’s how I see it.

BPM: Have you written any other books that are not published?
Geez… I have a group of unpublished work. Most of them earlier works and probably need some major overhauling.

BPM: What projects are you working on at the present?
I have another series I’ve started entitled Durbin Enterprises comprised of three books. It’s all mapped out and I’m about halfway done with the first story, and have a single chapter for the other two stories. It’s a working progress. I’m also scheduled to write with a group of authors next year doing a book set. I’m actually pretty excited about that project.

BPM: What is your preferred method to have readers get in touch with or follow you?
Email, Website, Facebook, Twitter, or at conferences. I’m gamed for it all. My Twitter handle is annclaywrites, and my Facebook is simply my name. My website is www.annclay.com and the email is annclay@annclay.com.

BPM: How can readers discover more about you and your work?
Readers can just google me, normally it brings up all of my work. They may also search in Amazon or go to my website. I would love if they’ve read my work to please leave a review, especially in Good Reads. That would help me out greatly. Thanks so much!
