Legendary Brenda Jackson: Celebrating Her 150th Novel

Spilling the Tea: A Romance Novel by Brenda Jackson

Ninety-something Mama Laverne is determined to find all of her great-grandchildren their perfect match before going home to glory. So far, her success rate is 100 percent and she intends to keep it that way.

After sustaining injuries in Iraq, Chancellor Madaris was told he’d never walk again. Chance credits his great-grandmother Mama Laverne with giving him the will to heal and prove the doctors wrong. He has a healthy respect for her meddling ways and knows he’ll eventually end up next on her matchmaking list.

When Zoey Pritchard was eight, she survived a car accident that took the lives of her mother and father, and was sent to live with her great-aunt who refused to speak about her parents. Zoey has no memory from before the crash, but she’s been having the same dream over and over…

Searching for answers, Zoey travels to Houston, where she uncovers a scandal involving her parents and the wealthy and powerful Madaris family. Her trail leads her straight to Chance’s door. The dislike and intense attraction are instant and simultaneous. But to help Zoey restore her memory, he grudgingly introduces her to his great-grandmother…

Was it chance, or Mama Laverne’s plan, that threw this pair together?

Reviews for Spilling the Tea: A Romance Novel
The Tea and Scandal
“Spilling the Tea is Brenda Jackson’s latest installment in the Madaris series, and it was a true page-turner. In this book, we meet Chancellor Madaris and Zoey Pritchard. Chancellor was injured while serving in the military, and although doctors told him he would never walk again, Mama Laverne knew differently. Five years later, Chance is a successful rancher, waiting for the day Mama Laverne sets her matchmaking sights on him.

Zoey Pritchard survived a childhood car accident, though her parents were not as fortunate. The crash left her without any memory of them. After her aunt passes away, Zoey travels to Houston in search of her family history, never expecting to meet the hot and sexy Chance—or to uncover the scandal that once shadowed the Madaris family.

Mrs. Jackson did an excellent job weaving past and present events into a powerful story of love, lies, pride, and forgiveness. Readers will admire Zoey’s spirit and determination. Life has thrown her curveballs, but she still pursued a career in medicine like her parents. When Zoey meets Chance, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

Zoey is ready to explore it, but Chance resists. Since his injury, he has been a loner—and being a Madaris, he carries that “Madaris pride,” which means one wrong step and it could all fall apart. LOL. Still, love has its way, and Chance can’t fight his growing feelings for Zoey.

It was fun seeing cameos from a few fan favorites, as well as hints at who might be next in line for a story. This novel kept me hooked, especially as readers learn more about Mama Laverne and Milton Sr.’s love story and the scandal surrounding it. Overall, this was a very good read and a true page-turner.”

“Brenda Jackson writes romance that sizzles and characters you fall in love with.”
Lori Foster, New York Times bestselling author

“The only flaw of this first-rate, satisfyingly sexy tale is that it ends.”
Publishers Weekly, starred review, on Forged in Desire

“Jackson was the first African-American author to make both the New York Times and USA Today romance bestsellers list. And after twenty years in the business, books like Love in Catalina Cove prove that she’s still a prevailing force in romance.”
