Social Sightings with Mickey Thompson

Social Sightings with Mickey Thompson:  Our mission is to showcase African American Achievements while providing interesting and exciting social news in a magazine format. It is important to promote our achievements and show how valuable we are to society in a marketplace that still ignores positive news and social events in the African American Community.

Good news is under-rated and under-reported, particularly when it comes to African Americans. The exception is when the news is negative.  That’s when the saying ‘If it bleeds it leads’ is most often over-applied. African Americans have the worst public relations problems of any people in the world
and this is bad. It has led to us and others having a really distorted view of who we are.

"Social Sightings" offsets the sensationalism that usually surrounds news from the Black Community. "Social Sightings" features outstanding role models in our community. We hope to motivate children to focus on their education and to get involved in their community.

CaliforniaAuthors.com
has offered news and notes from a ringside seat on the nation’s largest book market. Along the way, we’ve built some nice resources: a growing and varied library of book excerpts and original essays by California writers; a directory where readers can find California authors and authors can tell the world about their work; and listings pointing readers to independent bookstores, west coast
publishers, media, literary events, organizations and more.
